Copper Cuttle

My good friend Andee traveled to visit me last summer and we decided to go to the aquarium. Being the creative beings we are, we brought our sketchbooks and had a marvelous time.

There was a special exhibit about camouflage, and this little guy was tucked back in a corner. His little factoid was "Cuttlefish blood is blueish green because it uses copper rich proteins to carry oxygen as oppose to iron."

As much as the internet loves its squids, cuttle fish are a neater cephalopod that probably deserves more attention.
